Event Types — Definitions

Gallery Hop: A Gallery Hop (or art crawl) is a casual, social walk through multiple contemporary art galleries in the same neighborhood. Guests move as a group or explore independently, meeting other attendees as they view exhibitions. Gallery Hops are relaxed, art-forward events designed for easy conversation and discovery. Early Burdz hosts a free gallery hop in Chelsea every Thursday, where we explore galleries in Chelsea, then mingle over food and drinks. We also host art crawls in other NYC neighborhoods and other cities, where we explore galleries in a neighborhood, then mingle over coffee nearby.

Museum Mixer: A Museum Mixer combines a self-paced museum visit with a mixer afterward. Guests explore an exhibition together, then head to a nearby bar or restaurant to meet new people in a relaxed setting. Museum Mixers emphasize culture, conversation, and community, and are one of Early Burdz’s signature formats.

Art Party: An Art Party is a lively, social event held inside an art space, featuring drinks, light bites, and open exploration of the work on display. It blends art discovery and good vibes, creating an accessible, welcoming environment for meeting people surrounded by contemporary art.

Gallery Party: A Gallery Party is an evening social hosted in a partner gallery, typically featuring curated art, mingling, and a casual, welcoming atmosphere.

Art House: Art House is an immersive, multi-artist showcase that brings together emerging artists, collectors, and the public. Part exhibition, part social gathering, Art House features curated displays, a vibrant crowd, and a community-driven atmosphere. It bridges art viewing and social connection in a single event.

Weekend Getaway: A Weekend Getaway is a curated group trip built around art, nature, and shared experiences. Guests travel together from a major city to destinations like the Catskills, Beacon, or the Hamptons for gallery visits, hikes, group meals, and community bonding. These trips offer high-touch, immersive social experiences.

Day Trip: A Day Trip is a condensed version of a getaway, offering a full cultural and social experience within a single day. Guests meet in the morning, travel together to a curated destination or activity, and return the same evening. Day Trips are designed for accessibility, convenience, and strong group connection. Generally these combine art and nature exploration.

Promoted Party: A Promoted Party is a partnered event hosted by a gallery, brand, fair, or venue. Early Burdz promotes the event to its community, boosts turnout, and provides light on-site support. These events help partners reach a curated, art-interested crowd.

Hostless Event: A Hostless Event is an Early Burdz format run entirely through the chat app, without on-site staff. Guests coordinate using the Event Chat, follow shared prompts, complete the Chemistry Quiz, and self-organize through the gallery or museum route. Hostless events are important to us, as we’re trying to create third spaces with our mixers. Everyone is in the same boat. No content, no host, just connections. Before the event, we curate the crowd and set up icebreakers to facilitate connections. And we provide support throughout the event in the group chat.

Art Date Night: Art Date Night is a structured singles event where guests meet new people in an art-centered setting—usually a gallery hop or museum visit, followed by a mixer at a bar or restaurant. The vibe is intentional, warm, and low-pressure, with optional matchmaking tools available through the chat app. For these events, we strive to balance the ratios.
